– 5 Simple Feng Shui Tips to Make Your Home Feel More Balanced and Inviting –
– 162 on 12 –

On October 20th, I set out on a moto adventure similar to last year’s romp, but in reverse.
Instead of mindless freeway miles, I trailered the moto to north of Las Vegas, launched my assault on Utah’s National Parks of Zion, Bryce, Grand Staircase, Capitol Reef, and Glen Canyon from St George, Utah.
This allowed me time to explore more roads. I discovered the most amazing scenic byway I’ve ever experienced, Utah’s State Route 12.
The 12 connects Bryce and Capitol Reef with 123 miles of blissfully smooth asphalt, cutting a ribbon of fun through the most unbelievable scenery in the west, a road so well engineered, so exhilarating, and in the shoulder season of late October so sparsely populated, it begs for WOT (Wide Open Throttle). Hence the name I’ve given it, “162 on the 12” (162 mph on SR12).
This video was taken by a fellow motorhead from Alberta, Canada who I met on the 12. He and I raced through the Grand Staircase together, a partner in crime.
My goal and turnaround point was Durango, Colorado.
I blasted my way to the old mining town of Ouray, with a night at the fabulously restored, Victorian mining era hotel, The Beaumont.
The next day I made my way to Durango via Silverton (but not before smashing three mountain passes). I went through the Cole Bank Pass (10,640ft), Molas Pass (10,970ft), and Red Mountain Pass (11,018ft), all blanketed in snow from a storm that ripped through 2 days prior. See my snow covered path in this video.
In Silverton, I had coffee at the Coffee Bear with a new friend “Bruce”, who turned out to be the local sheriff and a motorhead! Sheriff Bruce was happy to see me ripping up his backcountry on a race bike.
After coffee in Silverton with Sheriff Bruce, I enjoyed more sessions at elevation on the fantastic snow covered Million Dollar Highway, which dropped me into Durango for a two-night stay at another nicely restored, turn of the century Victorian-era mining hotel, The Strater.
I laid over in Durango for a couple of days and went on a big ride with a local who showed me some of the sights.
The return session back to St. George took me south through Hopi Nations, Mexican Hat, and “Forrest Gump Hill” in Monument Valley (if you have seen the movie you know that image). According to a local, that’s the biggest tourist attraction, and they line up for miles to take a picture standing in the road. Being a (speed) tourist, I did the same, only quicker.
It’s hard to wrap up 2 weeks of ultralight, “speed tourism” on the moto. “Ultralight” means very minimal gear, no luggage, just a small backpack carrying a toothbrush, toothpaste, charge cables, a credit card, a few maps, a small bag of Sur Coffee beans, a hand grinder, a hot water wand, and an Aeropress.
What else do you need?!?!
Coffee, Moto….GO!
PRO TIP:
Shoulder season exploration is where it’s at! Try to structure your sightseeing and tourism shenanigans in those times and you’ll have a much better chance of experiencing the world with a few less people in it.
Make sweet coffee, drink good, love, and always stay moving…fastly.

We love our clients, and they love us…
❝Fawn at L34 Group was a joy to work with in our home buying process. She was extremely knowledgeable and experienced about every step and worked quickly when we needed it most. She also was calm and reassuring during all of the inevitably stressful parts of our first time home purchase. My wife and I could not be more happy with everything Fawn provided us during this journey and we recommend her to everyone.❞
