– SIMPLIFIED LIVING: HOW TO ORGANIZE A HOME WITHOUT SACRIFICING STYLE –
Catherine Stephens, Operations Manager – Partner Agent
Anyone who knows me knows I love outdoor spaces and parks—places to walk, hike, take in a community event, picnic, engage in an activity of interest, or simply meander in the sun… or in a hoodie and boots, as the case may be! ☔️
Just when I thought I was well-versed in all the beautiful options nearby, I was gobsmacked this past weekend when I came across Los Angeles State Historic Park. Not only is it massive at 32 acres, but it’s also largely flat (sometimes the legs need a break from the hills!). It offers a wide array of activities and events, many of which are kicking off with daylight savings this weekend—featuring all my favorite things! Yoga & wellness, art, farmers’ markets, gardening, and local history. Check. It. Out.
Upcoming Events at LASHP:
Art in the Park – 2nd & 4th Wednesday of each month, 3 PM–5 PM
Enjoy painting sessions facilitated by longtime park volunteer, Xochitl. Free for all ages & abilities; supplies provided.
LA River Farmers’ Market – Thursday, March 13, 3 PM–7:30 PM
Meet farmers and vendors, enjoy live music, and participate in family-friendly activities! @foodaccessla
Monarch Heroes – Watering & Weeding – Sunday, March 23, 9 AM–11:30 AM
Earth Day Spectacular – Saturday, April 19, 9 AM–1 PM
Featuring amazing speakers discussing sustainability and how native plants can help restore our ecosystem.
Wellness Yoga with Active SGV – Wednesdays, 5 PM–6 PM (Small lawn north of the Welcome Pavilion)
LA Freewaves – Justice + Art Jam – Saturday, May 24, 1 PM–4 PM
A powerful gathering celebrating resilience, solidarity, and transformation through interactive workshops, storytelling, performance art, music, theatre, and visual art installations.
A Park with a Rich History
Los Angeles State Historic Park sits on the ancestral land of the Tongva people, once home to the village of Yang Na. Renamed Gabrieleño after the 1771 founding of Mission San Gabriel, the Tongva left a lasting cultural legacy alongside Spanish-colonial settlers.
One key remnant is the Zanja Madre (“Mother Ditch”), the 1791 irrigation system that brought water from the LA River to El Pueblo de Los Angeles—marking the city’s first public works project. Beneath the park, 19th-century granite paving stones, once used for railroad freight deliveries, remain embedded in the landscape.
Located along the 52-mile LA River Greenway, LASHP is both a historic treasure and a driving force behind the River Revitalization Movement, bringing much-needed green space to the heart of Los Angeles.
🌿 All programs are free unless otherwise noted! @lastatehistoricpark
– For the Birds Was A Stellar Success! –
This past Saturday, March 1st was our L34 Group’s Gallery Art Night Event featuring Sage Vaughn’s “For the Birds”, with proceeds benefiting The Audubon Center at Debs Park.
In its holistic, people-focused, approach to conservation work, The Audubon Center at Debs Park serves as a community hub for environmental justice and advocacy work in Los Angeles, and across the Audubon network.
And, as always, stay tuned into @L34Group for additional information about exciting upcoming Gallery Art Nights, and the local charities benefitting.
