– WHAT’S OLD IS NEW –
If you’re looking to infuse your home with character, charm, and a touch of nostalgia, a vintage interior design style is the perfect choice. Decorating with vintage pieces can bring a unique sense of history and personality to your space. Whether you’re drawn to the elegance of the 1940s and 50s or the rustic charm of a bygone era, incorporating vintage elements into your home can create a warm and inviting atmosphere. Let’s explore the key elements of vintage interior design and provide expert tips and ideas to help you bring this timeless style to life in your own home.
Soft Pastel Color Palette
A vintage color palette often features soft and feminine shades. Neutral colors like white, cream, and beige serve as a backdrop, while soft grays and pastels like duck-egg blue, pale pink, and lilac add a touch of nostalgia. Consider layering these colors to create depth and interest in your space. To add even more vintage style, consider incorporating a floral-patterned wallpaper as an accent wall.
Distressed Furniture
Incorporating distressed furniture is a hallmark of vintage interior design. Whether naturally aged or artificially distressed, these pieces instantly add a vintage vibe to your space. Look for wardrobes, bedside tables, coffee tables, and chairs with carved handles, rounded legs, and wooden frames. Large cabinets with glass doors are perfect for displaying vintage glassware, silverware, and other treasures.
Floral Patterns
Floral patterns are essential for creating a vintage look. Incorporate upholstery, cushions, and fabrics with faded floral designs in soft, pastel colors. Consider mixing different floral patterns or combining them with other botanical motifs for a whimsical and romantic touch.
Vintage Textiles
Long, graceful curtains, delicate lace napkins, floral upholstery, decorative pillows, bedding made from vintage fabrics, and natural-fiber area rugs all contribute to the vintage feel of a space. These textiles add softness, texture, and a sense of nostalgia to your interior design.
Repurpose and Up-cycle
When creating a vintage interior, it’s important to strike a balance between old and new. Mixing vintage pieces with contemporary elements creates a more timeless and eclectic look. Incorporating repurposed and up-cycled items is a great way to infuse your space with vintage charm while reducing waste. Consider recovering a mid-century armchair, painting an old sideboard, or framing new artwork with an antique gilt frame. These unique and one-of-a-kind pieces add a personal touch to your home. Explore flea markets, thrift stores, and online vintage shops to discover one-of-a-kind treasures that reflect your personality and add a personal touch to your home.
Creating a vintage interior design style is a wonderful way to infuse your home with character, charm, and a sense of nostalgia. By incorporating the key elements of vintage design, such as wide-plank wood flooring, soft pastel colors, distressed furniture, and vintage textiles, you can create a space that exudes elegance, gracefulness, and peaceful nostalgia.
– PLUMBING TURNED REMODEL –
Agent Contribution: Rachael Reiser, L34 Group Partner Agent
Finding the silver lining when a plumbing emergency hits home
Most home renovations are meticulously planned; however, in my family’s situation- we got creative quickly when an unfortunate plumbing emergency forced us to move out of our house for several months. We were extremely lucky to be referred to an excellent contractor who was experienced with insurance litigation to make sure we received the proper funds necessary to get our house back in tip top shape. Our contractor reminded us that if there were any “projects” we had put on the back burner, this might be the time to do them. With a plan in place, my husband and I decided to go ahead and not only remodel our bathroom (where the bulk of the damage was), but also reimagine our kitchen.
Navigating home renovations is daunting in the best of times, and with the clock ticking it’s imperative to make decisions quickly. My best advice to anyone in this situation is to make sure you’re working with a reputable licensed contractor, and if you’re feeling overwhelmed with design direction, seek advice from a designer whose style you admire.
Before & After: Kitchen Before & New Kitchen (In Progress…)
It’s been a whirlwind of shopping for tile, countertops, cabinets, and appliances, but having stuck to our checklist, we’re grateful the last-minute renovations are moving along smoothly!
On a side note: Sewer line inspections are extremely important. Having purchased our house before camera scopes were part of homebuyer inspections, we were unaware of the weakened condition of the cast iron sewer pipe located in the slab foundation of our house.

– LOVE WORDS –
We love our clients and they love us….
❝I reached out to L34 Group in search of finding a group that understood the NELA market as we were ready to move on from DTLA. Deidre and Terry were quick to pair us up with Rachael Reiser, and we couldn’t ask for anything more! Rachael was quick to meet us in person and start showing us around and explain the different niches of each neighborhood. After a barrage of open houses, emails, offers & bids, we found a home that checked the boxes. Rachael’s expertise, style and sense of aesthetics really matched with what we were looking for very well. She understood the potentials we were looking for in a home for the future. Her communication was impeccable not just with us but also the other receiving end which ultimately got us our home. Thank you to this group. This is also one of those hidden gem groups that you can count on.❞
